How many tech jobs are actually remote?

This is a census, not a survey. Neuradesk ingests postings directly from 134companies' own applicant tracking system feeds, the same boards those employers publish themselves, and refreshes them every two hours. There is no sampling frame and no respondent bias, because nobody is being asked anything.

A posting counts as remote when the employer's own feed marks it remote. We do not infer it from job titles or description text, so "remote-friendly" language in a description does not move these numbers.

Job function is assigned at ingest from the posting title and content. Functions with fewer than 250 active postings are left out of the table, because at that size a percentage swings on a handful of rows. Those postings still count toward the all-functions totals.

It is a corpus, not the market. These are 134 technology employers who publish machine-readable career feeds. They skew toward well-funded, engineering-heavy companies. Read this as remote hiring at that kind of employer, not as the labour market.

We are not publishing how long postings stay open. It is the number people ask for most, and our own figure is currently unsound: the corpus has about a month of history, so the postings we have watched close are disproportionately the fast-closing ones, and every slow-closing posting is still open and therefore uncounted. That bias shortens the answer materially. It resolves itself as the observation window grows, and the figure will appear here when it is honest.

We are not publishing a skills demand ranking. Our skill extractor currently lifts hiring-process boilerplate out of descriptions, which puts terms like "Recruiting" near the top of the engineering list at companies that plainly are not recruiting firms. The ranking would be wrong in a way a reader would notice, so it stays out until the extractor is fixed.
