Role Summary
Join Temporal as a Business Development Intern and get hands-on experience in enterprise sales development at one of the fastest-growing infrastructure companies in the world. In this role, you will work directly alongside our Business Development Representatives to prospect, engage, and build pipeline into some of the largest enterprises globally. You will go through the same onboarding and training our full-time BDRs complete, giving you real-world exposure to outbound sales, cold calling, account research, and pipeline generation in a developer-first, technical sales environment.
This internship is ideal for someone who is curious about a career in tech sales, thrives in fast-paced environments, and wants to learn what it takes to sell into engineering and platform teams at Fortune 500 companies.
What You'll Do
- Prospect Into Target Accounts: Research and identify the right contacts at enterprise accounts using tools like Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and Common Room. Build account briefs and outreach plans that BDRs can execute against.
- Engage Directly With Prospects: Make cold calls, send personalized emails, and run LinkedIn outreach into target accounts alongside your assigned BDR team. You will own live outbound activity, not just research.
- Learn the Temporal Value Proposition: Go through the same onboarding curriculum our BDRs complete, including product training, Challenger Arc methodology, the WYWYN cold call framework, and discovery fundamentals.
- Support Pipeline Generation: Help BDRs build and maintain healthy pipeline by keeping sequences running, refreshing contact data, and identifying new angles into stalled accounts.
- Participate in Team Rituals: Attend weekly team calls, 1:1s with your manager, and cross-functional syncs with Account Executives and Solutions Architects. You will be treated as a full member of the team.
- Track and Report Activity: Log all activity in Salesforce, maintain CRM hygiene, and report on your weekly metrics just like every other BDR on the team.
- Contribute to Special Projects: Support initiatives like event outreach, investor-facilitated pipeline motions, competitive research, or AI-driven prospecting workflows depending on business needs and your interests.
What You'll Bring
- Hunger and Coachability: You do not need prior sales experience. You need a willingness to learn, take feedback, and get better every single day.
- Comfortable with rejection and resilient in the face of a high-volume outbound environment.
Communication Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communicator. You can write a clear, concise email and hold a professional phone conversation.
- Active listener who can ask good questions and adapt on the fly.
Curiosity About Technology:
- Genuine interest in how software is built and how companies make technology decisions.
- You do not need to be a developer, but you should be excited to learn about distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and developer tools.
Organization and Discipline:
- Ability to manage your time across multiple accounts and outreach channels without dropping the ball.
- Comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment with daily and weekly targets.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree (all majors welcome, though Business, Communications, CS, or related fields are a plus).
- Available for a full-time internship during Fall 2026 (target start: September/October).
- Must be based in the Atlanta metro area or willing to work on-site from our Atlanta office (2018 Powers Ferry Road, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30339).
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Nice-to-Have
- Previous internship or part-time experience in sales, customer-facing, or business development roles.
- Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
- Exposure to the developer tools or infrastructure software space.
- Involvement in sales-oriented clubs, entrepreneurship programs, or competitions.
What You'll Gain at Temporal
- Real BDR Training: You will complete the same onboarding program as our full-time hires, including product certification, cold call frameworks, and pipeline methodology. This is not a "fetch coffee" internship.
- Direct Selling Experience: You will make real calls, send real emails, and book real meetings. Everything you do has a direct impact on pipeline.
- Mentorship: You will be paired with a BDR and a BDR Manager who will invest in your development throughout the internship.
- Exposure to Enterprise Sales: Work alongside Account Executives, Solutions Architects, and Sales Leadership to see how complex deals move from first touch to close.
- A Path Forward: High-performing interns will be considered for full-time BDR roles upon graduation.
