Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community You Will Join:
Our Product Marketing & Management leaders imagine the ideal experience for our community and work backwards, creating innovative products that delight our guests and hosts — and crafting the narratives that bring those products to the world. They deeply understand the needs of our users and translate these into a strategy that combines strong product thinking, deep research, and compelling go-to-market storytelling. They partner with talented cross-functional team members across engineering, design, operations, data science, marketing, and communications, leading teams to execute a shared vision. They are incredibly detail-oriented and hands on.
The Difference You Will Make:
You will be part of the team responsible for product roadmaps and launches at Airbnb. You will drive specific features that are part of every launch and determine how they are positioned and communicated to the external world. You are responsible for the success of Airbnb products throughout their life cycle — from concept to release to growth. And your cross-functional work ensures a consistent product voice across the experiences being built at Airbnb.
We are living in one of the loneliest moments in modern history — and Airbnb is uniquely positioned to do something about it. We are seeking a Product Marketing & Management leader to join our People to Meet team, the category of Experiences built to bring strangers together through shared activities and interests — run clubs, supper clubs, book clubs, game nights, and more. People to Meet is a horizontal layer of human connection that spans the entire Airbnb platform, and it sits at the heart of our ambition to evolve from a booking platform into a real-world social network. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a new category from the ground up, shaping both the guest and host experience, and to leave a lasting impact on how the world meets, gathers, and connects.
A Typical Day:
- Develop and maintain a product vision, strategy, and roadmap for People to Meet across both the guest and host journeys.
- Synthesize guest, host, and partner feedback and translate it into product features and positioning — from profiles and "who's going" to conversation starters, messaging, and post-event connection.
- Develop the public-facing messaging and narrative for People to Meet, and land the value proposition with guests, hosts, and the media.
- Align product teams and cross-functional partners across marketing, communications, research, and PMM.
- Grow and shape the supply of social formats — partnering with hosts and creators to design repeatable, high-quality experiences that reliably foster connection.
- Own the guest connection experience end to end (before, during, and after the event), balancing the drive to scale with the social intimacy that makes these formats work.
- Champion trust, safety, and privacy as first-class product responsibilities in every in-person connection we enable.
- Ensure the existing storefront is healthy and the quality bar is high across People to Meet listings.
- Role model behaviors that encourage open communication and curiosity.
- Make judgements and prioritization decisions that are in the best interests of our users.
- Efficiently execute to ship products and deliver impact for our business and users.
Your Expertise:
- 8+ years of product management and/or product marketing experience.
- Experience creating product messaging and positioning and delivering it to customers and the media.
- Demonstrated inbound and subject matter expertise, ideally in consumer social, community, events, or marketplace businesses.
- Background building social or community products — hands-on experience with profiles and identity, matching and discovery, messaging, and the mechanics that turn first meetings into lasting connections.
- Fluency in two-sided marketplace dynamics — bootstrapping supply and demand in a new category, navigating cold-start, and designing for network effects and repeat engagement.
- Trust & safety and privacy by design — a genuine understanding of what it takes to bring strangers together safely in the real world, and comfort treating that as a core product surface rather than an afterthought.
- Requirements gathering & documentation — turning ambiguous problems into clear specs that align eng, design, research, and partners.
- Able to build compelling customer-focused stories and work with marketing and communications partners to bring them to life.
- Excited to build a new category that helps people make real connections in the real world.
- Demonstrated track record of product leadership in a cross-functional environment.
- Built and scaled global consumer products, marketplaces, or ecosystems that people love.
- Entrepreneurial track record of taking an idea to reality and leading teams through a dynamic environment.
- Experience working on consumer products that drive significant engagement and revenue.
- A strong ability to effectively use data and perform business analysis to support product strategy and go-to-market decisions.
- Excited to drive execution across teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Enjoys doing individual contributor product and product marketing work and staying in the details.
- Strong ability and desire to travel frequently, including domestic and international.
