Job Description
Advanced Engineering & Product Development
- Support the development of new products, technologies and engineering solutions.
- Assist with concept generation, feasibility studies and technical investigations.
- Translate customer and business requirements into engineering requirements and solutions.
- Support the design, development and optimisation of prototypes and production products.
- Undertake engineering calculations, simulations and technical analysis.
- Assist with design reviews, technical presentations and engineering documentation.
- Investigate technical problems and develop practical, data-driven solutions.
- Support continuous improvement and the introduction of new technologies into existing products and manufacturing processes.
Systems Engineering
- Develop an understanding of complex engineering systems and their interactions.
- Assist with the definition and management of system requirements.
- Develop system architectures and functional specifications.
- Support the integration of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software systems.
- Assist with system-level testing, validation and verification.
- Develop system block diagrams, functional models and technical documentation.
- Support root-cause investigations of system-level failures and performance issues.
- Consider reliability, safety, performance, cost and manufacturability throughout the development process.
Controls & Automation
- Support the development and integration of control systems and automation technologies .
- Assist with PLC, HMI and control-system development.
- Work with sensors, actuators, valves, motors and other control-system components.
- Support the development of control strategies and control logic.
- Assist with commissioning, testing and troubleshooting automated equipment.
- Investigate opportunities to improve process automation and machine performance.
- Develop an understanding of industrial communication protocols and control architectures.
- Work alongside controls and electrical engineers on machine and system integration.
Electrical, Electronics & Embedded Systems
- Support the selection and integration of electrical and electronic components.
- Assist with electrical and electronic system design and testing.
- Work with sensors, transducers, controllers and embedded devices.
- Support hardware/software integration and system testing.
- Assist with data acquisition, monitoring and diagnostic systems.
- Develop an understanding of embedded control and communication technologies.
Mechanical Engineering
- Support mechanical design and development activities.
- Produce and modify engineering drawings and 3D CAD models where required.
- Assist with component selection, design calculations and tolerance analysis.
- Support prototype manufacture, assembly and testing.
- Investigate mechanical performance, failure modes and design improvements.
- Work closely with manufacturing and production engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
Testing, Validation & Data Analysis
- Develop test plans and test procedures.
- Support laboratory, prototype and product testing.
- Collect, analyse and interpret engineering data.
- Use data to identify trends, performance issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Document test results and make recommendations based on engineering evidence.
- Support product verification and validation activities.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Work as part of multidisciplinary engineering project teams.
- Support project planning, risk management and technical problem solving.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Commercial teams.
- Liaise with suppliers and technology partners where required.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering and management teams.
- Manage allocated engineering tasks and deliver them within agreed timescales.
Qualifications
- Degree in an engineering or closely related technical discipline, such as: Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering

- Manufacturing Engineering
- or a related discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Genuine interest in multidisciplinary engineering and emerging technologies. Ability to understand complex technical problems and develop logical solutions. Good numerical and mathematical capability. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to learn new technologies and engineering disciplines. Practical and hands-on approach to engineering.
